SEA's Largest Market To Hit Tourism Target
In September alone, Indonesia welcomed 1.28 million tourists
Indonesia is close to hitting its tourism target. By September, over 10 million foreign visitors arrived, moving toward the 2024 goal of 14 million, according to the Central Statistics Agency.
This marks a 20.3% increase from last year, though still below pre-pandemic levels, which saw over 12 million visitors by September 2019.
In September alone, Indonesia welcomed 1.28 million tourists, up nearly 20% year-on-year but slightly down from August.
Top sources of visitors include Malaysia, Australia, China, and Singapore. The average spending per foreign tourist reached $1,375, slightly lower than the previous quarter’s $1,443.
Domestic tourism is also up, with nearly 758 million local trips in the first nine months, a 21% rise from last year.
Hotel occupancy for the same period averaged 51.3%, showing a strong recovery for Indonesia's tourism industry.
