Malaysia, along with 12 other nations, has been officially added as a BRICS partner country, expanding the alliance.

The BRICS bloc, chaired by Russia and comprising Brazil, India, China, and South Africa, now includes nations like Algeria, Indonesia, and Turkey, though they are not yet full members.

BRICS represents 40% of the global population and about 26.2% of global GDP, nearly matching the G7.

Malaysia's Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli is set to attend the BRICS Plus Summit in Russia on October 24, 2024.
