Instagram has hired Jake O’Leary as its global head of marketing, focusing on boosting its appeal to Gen Z.

O’Leary joins from YouTube, where he played a key role in promoting YouTube Music, Shorts, and artists like Billie Eilish. He will oversee marketing for Instagram, Threads, and the platform's creators.

O'Leary's hiring comes as Instagram enhances its Gen Z offerings, launching features to compete with TikTok and Snapchat.

He will report to Eshan Ponnadurai, Meta’s VP of consumer marketing.
