TSMC has reportedly uncovered Huawei’s attempt to circumvent U.S. export controls by using a proxy to produce its Ascend 910B chips.

Huawei allegedly tried to place an order at TSMC for a chip resembling its HiSilicon Ascend 910B, despite U.S. sanctions that prevent companies from selling products to Huawei without a license.

TSMC raised the alarm, notified the U.S. Department of Commerce, and denied the order, ensuring compliance with the export restrictions.

This highlights Huawei’s broader strategy to navigate U.S. tech export limitations.
