The 2025 Michelin Guide for Kuala Lumpur and Penang is out, spotlighting the region's best culinary spots.
Ten new restaurants have joined the Michelin Selected category. In Kuala Lumpur, esteemed places like Atelier Binchotan, Bar Kar, Potager, and Terra Dining make the list, while Penang sees exciting additions such as the Austrian flair of Christoph’s and the Italian charm at Jaloux.
Significant upgrades include Beta, now boasting one Michelin star, and Bibik’s Kitchen and Sri Nirwarna Maju being recognized with Bib Gourmand honours, highlighting excellent value.
Making sustainability history, Dewakan in Kuala Lumpur earned Malaysia's first Green Star for its eco-friendly practices, while retaining its two Michelin Stars. Bib Gourmand also welcomed 12 new establishments, with gems like Coast by Kayra.
Two new restaurants, Chim by Chef Noom and Molina, have been awarded one Michelin star each. The guide now features 143 establishments, offering over 30 different cuisines, ranging from street food to fine dining.
The launch event took place on November 14, 2024, at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, and was streamed live for wider access.
The guide also celebrates culinary excellence with special awards for service, sommeliers, young chefs, and new openings each year.
