BMI Reports Growth in SEA's LPG Consumption
Southeast Asia’s LPG consumption is projected to grow 2% annually from 2023 to 2033.
Southeast Asia’s liquefied petroleum gas(LPG) consumption is projected to grow 2% annually from 2023 to 2033, reaching around 740,000 barrels per day in 2023. This report comes from BMI oil & gas industry research, part of the Fitch Group.
Most demand comes from the residential, commercial, and public sectors (71%), with non-energy uses and manufacturing following.
LPG use in transport is declining due to the shift to electric vehicles.
Indonesia leads regional production, making up 32%, followed by Thailand at 23%. Malaysia’s LPG production outlook is set to improve in 2027 with the opening of the ZLNG plant in Sabah.
